Jinjer vocalist Tati Shmayluk teamed up with an all-star band to perform Lamb of God’s “Laid to Rest” at Los Angeles’ iconic Whisky a Go Go. The cover was part of the venue’s Ultimate Jam Night, so the Ukrainian singer’s backing band featured Phil Demmel (ex-Machine Head, Vio-lence), Doc Coyle (Bad Wolves), Ricky Bonazza (Butcher Babies) and Alex Lopez (ex-Suicide Silence).
The Ultimate Jam Night on March 28th helped benefit Animal Tracks, a California-based animal sanctuary which specializes in rescuing exotic pets from the illegal pet trade. Other metal bigwigs like Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, Anthrax’s Scott Ian and King’s X’s Dug Pinnick rounded out the night, but it was Shmayluk who brought the brutality.
The Jinjer screamer already covered “Laid to Rest” way back in 2013, and she once again crushed Randy Blythe’s vocal parts during this take. Her resemblance to the Lamb of God screamer was uncanny, as her tone and annunciation mirrored Blythe’s unique style. Check out footage of the performance above.
“One the best parts about being a musician are moments like these,” Alex Lopez wrote on Instagram about the Lamb of God cover. “Great night filled with amazing people. Thank you to everyone who game out and supported! shout out to Lamb of God”
